Year 1: Islamic Essentials
An Essential One Year Program to Learn Your Faith

This course will give students the ability to explain different subjects as they pertain to the Sciences of the Qur’an. Students will study the revelation, authenticity, preservation, and miraculous nature of the Qur’an.

The students will cover a primer manual that presents the essentials of the Hanafi School of Law. This course aims to ensure that students learn the fundamentals of taharah (ritual purity) and Salah which students will use for the rest of their lives.

This course will survey the most common doubts and objections to Islam and provide answers that are rooted in authentic knowledge, that resonate with the heart and mind, that strengthen belief, and provide a practical religious and spiritual framework with which to interact with the world around them.

This course will give a comprehensive of the last ten chapters of the Holy Quran. Students will learn from classical tafsir in order to better understand common surahs that are recited daily.
Your Instructor: Imam Anwer
Imam Anwer graduated from the ’Alimiyyah (Islamic Scholarship) Program from the Qalam Seminary where he studied under a number of scholars and teachers including Shaykh Abdul Nasir Jangda, Mufti Husain Kamani, Shaykh Mikaeel Ahmed Smith, and Mufti Muntasir al-Zaman. Imam Anwer earned a sanad and ijazah (certificate of authenticity and traditional teaching license) in the memorization and recitation of the Holy Qur’an under Shaykh Uthman Khan. Imam Anwer has previously served as the Imam and Religious Director at the Islamic Association of Mid-Cities (IAMC) and is a former instructor in the Rufqa Program at the Taqwa Islamic Seminary.
Imam Anwer graduated from Stony Brook University with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) from the Department of Biology with a concentration in Developmental Molecular Genetics and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from the Department of History with a concentration in Global History and Social Change. He then attended the University of Medicine and Health Sciences (UMHS) and graduated with honors as a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.). He currently serves as the Imam and Director of Religious Affairs at the Nueces Mosque

Time Commitment
This flagship program is a year-long commitment. Classes will meet twice a week (two classes per week/ one hour each) and a one-hour review session.
Handling with School
Nueces Seminary attempts to accommodate to students’ schedules. We do not have class during final exams or school breaks.
Timing for Classes
Classes will be from 5:30 - 8:00pm during the Fall Semester.
